About

“I believe, through awareness all things can be visible. Meaningful images carefully created with thoughtful consideration can have a powerful impact. By understanding the why and how of capturing an image, the photographer can convey emotions, tell stories, and evoke deep connections with viewers, making the visual experience more profound and memorable. This is my aim and approach to creating the artwork”, - Elena Levkovskaya

Elena Levkovskaya (b. 1989 Ukraine, aka Olena Levkivska) is a contemporary visual artist who explores harmony in the inner self and deep connection to the environment and balance in life at the level of sensations.

Through her thought-provoking artworks, Elena aims to invite viewers to immerse themselves in the artistic journey of introspection. She believes that through awareness, all things can be visible. Meaningful images carefully created with thoughtful consideration can have a powerful impact.

Throughout her career, Elena has received numerous recognitions for her work. In 2018, she was honoured as one of the 'Top 30 Photographers of the Year' in Australia, a remarkable achievement in the competitive field of photography. In 2020, she was featured in 'Leaders in Contemporary Art,' a documentation highlighting leading contemporary artists and their exceptional artwork.
Elena's artworks have been showcased in exhibitions across Australia and New Zealand. Her work has also been featured in beauty and fashion magazines on an international level, including renowned publications like Vogue and L'Officiel.

Having Ukrainian origin and moved to Sydney, Australia, in late 2015, Elena's connection to her Ukrainian roots played a significant role in her response to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine that occurred on 24 February 2022.
As a result, she co-founded “True Blue and a Little Bit of Yellow” artist collective and co-organised dozens of fundraising exhibitions with the primary goal of raising funds to provide assistance and support to those affected by the war.

Elena works in her studio in Eastgardens, NSW, Australia

Elena Levkovskaya as a Painter

In her paintings, Elena continues the subject of harmony and deep connection to the environment as a subject at the level of sensations.

Elena's style, with separate patches on the canvas, creates a distinctive effect reminiscent of wood carving. The use of separate patches in a variety of palette knives in different sizes and forms helps to enhance the tactile and visual qualities of the painting, giving it a sculptural feel. This approach allows the viewer to appreciate the appearance of the artwork and the physicality of the paint, adding a sense of craftsmanship.

The choice of oil paints contributes to the richness and vibrancy of colours in Elena's paintings. The layering of patches creates a sense of movement and energy within the composition, adding dynamism to the overall aesthetic. To enhance this research, she may incorporate elements such as gold and silver or natural materials, further enhancing the sensory experience and adding an element of luxuriousness to her pieces.
